June Krauser had an impressive career in AAU age-group swimming where she competed for the Indianapolis Athletic Club and Riviera Club and won a national championship in the 220-yard breaststroke at age 16. A graduate of Purdue University in Indiana, June swam for the Lafayette Swim Club for two years while attending Purdue and then hung up her swimsuit for 25 years. She may have left the water but not the sport. After marriage and a relocation to Florida in 1955, June got her feet wet again as the mother of age-group swimmers and soon became a swimming official. She helped form the Florida Gold Coast AAU Swimming Committee and served as its secretary/treasurer for nine years. From then on, her life was filled with significant administrative and organizational commitments to AAU Swimming.

In 1971, June got back in the pool as a Masters swimmer and immediately became involved in the program at the local and national level. She virtually “wrote the rule book” when USMS was formed under the “umbrella” of AAU Swimming. June became the first Rules Chair for U.S. Masters Swimming, a position she held for many years. She also founded and edited the first national newsletter, Swim-Master. This hand-typed newsletter included results from meets all over the country and was mailed regularly to hundreds of subscribers. June received the 2nd annual Capt. Ransom J. Arthur M.D. Award in 1974 in recognition of  her many contributions to furthering the objectives of Masters Swimming.
