Hamilton “Ham” Anderson was born and raised in Omaha, NE, and competed in high school on the Tech High Swim Team. Along with his wife, Mildred, Ham moved to Houston in the mid-1950’s and founded the Crystal Pools Company. In 1955 they organized the first age group swim program in Houston. Ham competed in the first Masters National Championship in Amarillo, TX, in 1970. He and Mildred founded the Texas Gulf Masters in 1972 and hosted numerous meets in the area. 

Ham served as the Gulf AAU Masters Chairman for many years, beginning in 1971. He and Mildred maintained and contributed to a written history of U.S. Masters swimming and reported on it at the Masters convention each year. For his contributions to Masters at both the local, regional, and national levels, Ham was recognized, along with Mildred, as the Capt. Ransom J. Arthur M.D. Award in 1978.
