A dedicated volunteer within Pacific LMSC since 2001, Karen created the Richmond Plunge Masters Adult Learn to Swim (ALTS) program in 2013. The program reached 80 participants in 2017 and continued to thrive. She also created a “Bridge to Masters” curriculum to help the newly-minted swimmers continue to improve and become USMS members. Karen also helped conceive the Keller Cove Open Water swim, working to assure it ran smoothly each year. She secured sponsors and recruited officials and participants. Karen has served on numerous LMSC subcommittees and is known to be an “editor extraordinaire”, helping to catch grammar and formatting errors in the LMSC’s handbooks. On the national level, she has been a USMS convention delegate for 6 years and served on the Rules committee for 5. Finally, as a certified official, Karen worked at many Pacific Masters meets.
