Skip Thompson worked tirelessly for Masters Swimming as a coach, LMSC contributor and USMS Board member. As a coach, he was described as one who works with swimmers of all abilities and served as the Michigan Masters Team Rep at almost every USMS Nationals. In the Michigan LMSC, he served as Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Records & Top Ten Chair, Fitness Chair and Secretary. Skip also was meet director for local, state and zone meets. Nationally, he served on four different committees and was involved in multiple special projects.  He served as Great Lakes Zone Chair from 1992 until 1999. He was a key figure in Michigan holding the 1996 USMS Long Course Nationals.
