U.S. Masters Swimming Dorothy Donnelly Service Award

Wisconsin LMSC member, Mike Murray, served as the LMSC Treasurer since 2015. He kept the financial records and filed financial reports with USMS and the State of Wisconsin. Working with the chair and board members, he prepared the budget for the Annual Meeting. Mike started the regional club, WISC. He gathered members to be on the board and led the club as President for seven years and as VP for another year. The club hosted three swim meets annually that were smoothly run. Meet attendance grew because Mike added fun events and relays. The events included double arm backstroke relay, a 150 IM (pick your favorite 3 strokes and swim a 50 of each), and a 100 IM where the swimmers don’t know the order of the strokes until they are at the blocks. Besides being a meet director, Mike organized 2 swim clinics, one with USMS staff member Bill Brenner and another with local coaches. He assisted in the LMSC’s open water event, doing the paperwork that needed to be filed. Mike was instrumental in the operations of both the LMSC and the Wisconsin regional club.
