Doug volunteered as treasurer for the Adirondack LMSC for over 18 years. He served as treasurer for his regional club, ADMS, for the same length of time. Doug organized many activities for his LMSC. Due to a lack of competition opportunities in his local area, Doug reached out to the local Kingston YMCA and helped organize a new annual meet. This meet helped increase USMS membership at the southern end of the sprawling LMSC.
