The Board of Directors of the International Swimming Hall Of Fame unanimously voted to continue to include Masters in the honoree ceremony weekend and that no application for change in that procedure could be made for the next three years. This action was in response to a letter from Buck Dawson, former executive director and president of the hall following a request from the selection committee, primarily consisting of NCAA coaches, and presented at the May, 1999 board meeting by Ron O'Brien. the proposal made was to have a separate Masters division of ISHOF at the hall with separate honors ceremonies attended by Masters. The USMS House Of Delegates unanimously voted to support their representative in oppositon to this proposal to "put masters in the backwater of the hall" and the ISHOF board concurred that masters belongs with the elite athletes in the honoree weekend.
