Joel’s contributions to the Pacific LMSC helped Masters Swimming grow and prosper. As a coach, he developed a large Masters Swimming program at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Joel ran nearly all of the LMSC’s LCM Championship meets, which usually took place on the UCSD campus. He created the Cruz Cruise, which was originally a 5-mile cold ocean swim and evolved into a 2-mile event. A voice in the community for aquatic issues and concerns, Joel provided Pacific with great leadership in meet operations and open water swimming.
