U.S. Masters Swimming Dorothy Donnelly Service Award

A volunteer in the Pacific Masters LMSC for years, Bill’s contributions involved open water swimming. Upon becoming the Del Valle OW race director, he helped grow the event from ~100 participants in 2008 to 450 in 2019. The event became a “festival”, not just a swim, allowing it to host USMS National Championships in 2010 (1.5-mile), 2013 (1-mile), and 2015 (10K and 1-mile).  Bill generously shared his time, energy, and dedication as a resource for other OW event directors, which has allowed other Pacific Masters OW swims to grow and run smoothly. Another significant contribution involved his arranging for storage of both the old and new open water trailers, which are used by OW event directors.
