Virgil Chancy, of Southern Pacific LMSC, was the chair of the SPMS’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. He also served on the USMS Diversity and Inclusion Committee. He had been an active member of the SPMS Committee since 2016. A long-time official in SPMS and at USMS sanctioned swim meets, Virgil was also a member of the USMS Officials Committee. He was known for his humor, kindness, helpfulness, and dedication. He was also known to take the time to thoroughly explain to a swimmer why their disqualification was necessary. Virgil exuded a positive attitude and was an excellent role model for USMS members.
