2025 Elections
Election Cycle: USMS Officers
Welcome to the 2025 USMS National Elections information site. The election will be held during the 2025 Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates. This election cycle, we will elect USMS officers (president, vice president of administration, vice president of community services, vice president of local operations, vice president of programs, secretary and treasurer). Descriptions and duties of the officers are contained in ARTICLE 506 of the Code of Regulations. Processes for the election are governed by the current Election Operating Guidelines. Please read all information carefully and refer to the Election Schedule in APPENDIX A of these guidelines to avoid misunderstandings.
Candidates
- President
- Vice President of Administration (oversees the following committees: Legislation, Records and Tabulations, Rules)
- Vice President of Community Services (oversees the following committees: Coaches and Diversity and Inclusion)
- Vice President of Local Operations (oversees the following committees: History and Archives, LMSC Development, and Recognition and Awards)
- Vice President of Programs (oversees the following committees: Championship, Long Distance and Officials)
- Treasurer
- Secretary
Nomination Policies
The original nomination period is from May 1 through June 20, 2025.
- Floor Nominations will be accepted at the Delegate Orientation and USMS Townhall held in conjunction with the annual meeting, date and time TBD. Floor nominees shall electronically submit their completed Candidate Application and ensure that their recommendation letters are submitted as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours after the close of floor nominations.
Candidate Qualification Criteria:
- Each candidate shall be a current USMS member in good standing for the year in which the election is held.
- Each candidate shall have met one or more of the following criteria in the preceding five years.
- Attended an annual meeting
- Been a member of a standing committee or a permanent committee of the Board of Directors
- Been a member of their LMSC Board of Directors
- Each candidate shall plan to attend the annual meeting at which the candidate is standing for election.
- Each candidate shall plan to attend all annual meetings, Board of Directors meetings, and other assigned meetings during the candidate’s tenure.
- Each candidate shall have the technological capability to fully participate in USMS video conference meetings.
- Each candidate running for an at-large director position shall be a member of an LMSC within the zone of candidacy.
- All candidates shall give their consent to run and make an attestation of truthfulness when they submit their Candidate Application.
Nomination of Candidates
Each person seeking election shall submit a completed candidate application, including nomination and recommendation letters and a photo, by the deadline indicated in the EOG, Appendix A: Schedule. The application will ask you to provide information regarding your involvement with USMS, as well as to answer several questions that will help the delegates learn more about you.
